Has anyone had any success using Unigraphics 18 (CAD) with X11 beta 3?
I am not a power Unix user, so forgive me if I mix some things up.
I regularly log into the Uni* boxes at work (HP-UX) and display back
to my Mac using all of the X11 beta's, including the 'current' beta 3.
When Unigraphics launches, it asks whether to use the 2D or 3D display
drivers - it crashes on the 3D selection, and behaves poorly on the 2D
drivers. Is there a specific reason for this? My computer user name is
different from my logon name, and I read that there was some issue with
OpenGL.
I haven't gotten Unixgraphics 3D to work and the folks at UG are no
help. Basically, although they use OpenGL, they, the UG support
folks, claim that it will only work on the machine that's doing the
computing, that is only on the actual box that's running the program.
Personally, if they really are using X11 and OpenGL calls, I'm not
sure how it can be tied to the HW box, but that's what they tell me.
However, 2D mode has always worked just fine for me, using either
Apple's wm or my preference, twm (a very basic wm). I did set the
focus to follow mouse (search the list archives for the necessary OS
X magic required to do this, or perhaps someone will chime in with
the exact required command to run from Terminal to get it to work).
This should also take care of your focusing issue you mention,
although the UG Styler behavior is still a bit odd, but only when
you're designing menu's, never when running the CAD application.
