However, the Mac server has only 1 X11 "Screen", in my case 3840x1200.
On Linux with Xinerama, it is possible to have something similar, with
multiple monitors being 1 Screen, and windows can be resized to fill all
of the displays, if desired. So the objection that the Apple Xserver is
"rare" in the sense below is unfounded -- what is rare here is that it
won't allow a window to be as large as the Screen on which it lives.

However, as others have mentioned, the Apple X server is rare in that it
even allows windows to cross between screens.
