Something definitely got better. I no longer have Macintosh linefeeds
showing up in my X11 applications when copying and pasting.

Does it matter that the text is in a remote window? In other words,
can you do this with a local xterm?
As a data point, works both ways here (22 machines)
Ok, I'll have a try. (See below.)
Copied text from my remote xterm, and the selection cleared itself
within
two seconds!
Has something changed in the very lasted security update? I've just
this
morning run Software Update (last ran it perhaps a week ago, around the
time we started this conversation), and I can't reproduce the problem
anymore!
Oop. Oh yes I can. This is what I just did:
1. Selected some text from this mail as I'm composing it (in a remotely
hosted copy of pine over ssh -CX)
2. Edit->Copy
3. Command-Tab to Safari
4. Command-N to open a new Safari window
5. Command-V to paste the text: no go, it's gone.
Tried again (without opening a new Safari window) and the text pasted,
but
by the time I Command-Tabbed back here the selection was gone. Now
this
is strange: it's still in the clip-board, but no longer selected in
xterm.
One more try:
Ooh, now this is odd. Pastes, but as I command-tab back I see the
selection vanish.
One more try: the selection vanishes before I can paste it, and it's
not
in the clipboard.
At this particular instant, I'm running: X11, Safari, iTunes, Terminal,
and X11 is remotely running a remote shell (currently runing pine) in
an
xterm and a remote copy of emacs.
Very odd. Does anyone else on the list see this strange "volatile
copy"
effect with remote X11 sessions?
