David,
This is a long-standing problem with Fink installations. Last I heard, Fink
had fixed their end to recognize the existence of Apple's X11. (The problem
first arose back when Apple's X11 was in beta testing.)
I would refer to the Fink mail lists for previous postings and help. The
problem is related to Fink, not Apple.
