hi torrey,
thx! for the prompt reply :-)
make World >& world.log
make install >& install.log
make install.man >& man.log
This all looks correct.
i RTFM'd ! ;-)
Unfortunately the build is very poor about telling you when there are errors
and it just keeps on chugging along even if its fails horribly.
ok, that's what i get for 'havin' faith' ...
The best way to look for errors is to do something like:
grep -w Error world.log
i swear i did this. honest. but NOW (grumble), lo-n-behold, there's a make
error:
% grep -w Error world.log
+ rm -f Error.h
+ ln -s ../../../../lib/Xmu/Error.h .

of course, this early in _this_ game, this all means abolutely nothing to me
.... :-0
unfortunately, there's no trace of either an X11.app or XDarwin.app
anywhere -- neither in "/Applications/Utilities", nor in the build
tree, nor anywhere else for that matter ...
obviously, some here have been able to do this in the past ...
anyone successfully built these apps _recently_ ?
The top of the tree has issues from time to time. You say you are building
X11R6.8.1. What tag/branch are you using?
(2) cvs ... co -P -r HEAD xc
have i perhaps misspoken? i'm checking out "-r HEAD". is "top" != "HEAD" here
? if so, my bad ...
thanks,
richard
