Yes, the xemacs clipboard seems to override the xterm clipboard. The
workaround that always works for me is to "reset" the clipboard by
copying something into Aqua before doing a copy in X11. That is, the
following sequence never fails for me:
1) copy some text in Aqua in any application
2) copy some text from the xterm
3) paste into an Aqua application -- you'll get the xterm text
without fail. Somehow #1 "resets" the clipboard or something.
<rant>Apple, please fix this! You've known about it for months,
perhaps more. Apple does not seem to care about the user experience
as much as they used to. Maybe it doesn't pay off any more. They
are too busy inventing big new ideas to care about UI details, which
is what used to make them kick ass. Now we have bugs in software
that last for literally years without any fix (just look at the
bizarre behaviors and bugs in Finder and Mail.app) and you never know
what they are doing about it. Really irritating. I guess it's
better than Linux or Windows, though! But that shouldn't be good
enough for Apple. </rant>

I'm running X11.app v1.1 on 10.4.1. Copying from Aqua and pasting
to X11
seems to work, but the opposite direction fails. The workaround
before
was either to click on the 'Copy' icon on the xemacs toolbar, or to
use
the following keybinding:
(global-set-key [(meta c)] 'copy-primary-selection)
Neither works anymore. Both do copy into some buffer that can be
subsequently pasted into xemacs (with middle click), but pasting to
Terminal.app (for example) with cmd-v does nothing except
regurgitate the
previous contents of the Aqua pasteboard.
Any workarounds?
