What does "Sync with Debugger" do, and documentation question

In the debug menu there is an option, "Sync with Debugger".

What does this DO? And, why can't I find this in the documentation?

I've done full-text searches for things like "debugger menu" "menu" "menus", and (rather obviously "Sync with Debugger". None of the results is the obvious answer to my question. At least, if it's there, it's well buried under irrelevant results. There's something under build styles, for eg, but searching these help files for "sync with" or just "sync" doesn't lead me to what I want to know.

So, 2 questions:

Am I looking in the wrong place for this answer?
What is the answer? (ie what does it do?)
