I've recently upgraded to Tiger and am having problems with the keymap
in X11. When using gvim from fink I cannot type a #, which as you can
expect makes coding a little difficult. Instead of # I get a
superscript 3 when pressing Alt-3. This is on a 12" Powerbook G4 with
a UK Keymap.

Does anyone know what the problem is, and how to solve it? As I didn't
have this problem in Panther.

Perhaps your prefs are set to use/not use the system keyboard layout?

In the Input tab of the preferences I've got the box checked to use the system keyboard layout.

I believe that will override any X11 keymap. If you want to supply your own keymap, you need to turn that off.
