I just tried running the gimp-2.2.4 on one of my SuSE 9.3 Professional
systems from a Mac Mini running a fully updated Tiger with no
problems.
It's slower than running the fink gimp-1.2.5 natively on the Mac,
and the
images seem to have some texturing depending on the magnification
of the
gimp image -- which may be related to the screen resolution.
FWIW: gimp-1.2.5 on a SuSE 9.0 Professional system displays fine on
the
Tiger box as well.

Perfect! Not only does -Y get GIMP working remotely, but it also gets
KDE working remotely as well. I also figured out that the portion at
the bottom of the screen where the KDE desktop background doesn't
fill in properly can be fixed by turning Dock hiding on before
starting KDE. It stays fixed, even if you turn hiding off right after
KDE is up. I actually have GIMP.app on my PowerBook anyway, but I
just wanted to work out any kinks with remote X11 sessions.
