Hi:
I've been patiently waiting for Apple to fix what seems to be a bug introduced with X11 in 10.4 that was not present in 10.3
The bug manifests itself when connecting to a remote machine to run an engineering analysis program called ABAQUS CAE ( www.abaqus.com).
Invoking the program from X11 with > abaqus cae worked fine with 10.3
Now, with 10.4, it exits with the following message: ValueError: Insufficient system resource available.
Disconnecting from ABAQUS License Manager. ABAQUS Error: ABAQUS/CAE Kernel exited with an error.
[1] Exit 1 abaqus cae
Based on the suggestion at:
abaqus cae will work invoking abaqus as follows: > abaqus cae -mesa
However, it is dog-slow and I get screenfulls of errors, such as: X Error: code 3 major 10 minor 0: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter). X Error: code 5 major 18 minor 0: BadAtom (invalid Atom parameter). X Error: code 3 major 38 minor 0: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter).
We reported this to Apple in May. I tried to use 10.3's X11 with 10.4, but that didn't work.
Any insight into the problem, increased pressure on Apple to get it fixed, or other workarounds that would be faster would be appreciated.
