No, I used one from the Tiger boxed installation disc. Software
Update doesn't report a later version available, though...
That won't work. You need to use the X11User.pkg from the MacBook's
disc. The X11 on the Tiger Retail disc is only for Mac OS X 10.4.x
(PowerPC). Also, Software Update won't show anything newer.
You should uninstall X11, and then reinstall from the MacBook's disc.
The best way to do that would be:
sudo rm -rf /etc/X11
sudo rm -rf /usr/X11R6
sudo rm -rf /Applications/Utilities/X11.app
sudo rm -rf /Library/Receipts/X11User.pkg
Then, reinstall X11 from your MacBook's disc and you'll be good to go.
