I called VMWare and opened a support ticket and they said it was a Mac thing
as this does not happen with the Windows nxClient. I was already thinking
that if I knew which keymap X11 on the Mac was using, i could then hard code
this in the Vmware preferences file as it is set to pt104 right now. I
called Apple to try and figure out which keymap is being used and
they deferred me to this list.
the standard way to find out the key codes is to run the xev command
from an xterm. It pops up a small window, and when the small window is
focused, you can press any key and it will display (inside the xterm) the
keycode of what you just pressed.
There might be a faster way to find out all the codes, but this one always
works.
