Here's the scenario.
Launch X on your Mac using quartz-wm. Open an xterm ssh -Y to a remote Linux box (-X seems to cause Bad Window errors and death of local client) use Xterm (or Emacs) on the remote machine to open a window on your screen.
On my Power PC based Mac - the X pointer color is black. On my Intel Based Mac - the X pointer color is a faint yellow.
Attempts to set pointer color from the remote Linux box fail, launching
xterm -xrm '*pointerColor: red'
does not change the color.
If I do the same sequence between my Macs - then the pointer color is changed, so this is an interworking problem between my Fedora Linux boxes and the Mac server.
I've tried setting my display to lower color resolutions. I've tried setting the Apple depth parameter to 15 for X. None of this makes any difference.
Now I can live with a black pointer - but the yellow one is relatively invisible.
Is there any hope for a fix or a workaround on this one? I'll report it to Apple bugs but my success with getting bugs fixed using that route is not good.
