As I've said before, a $HOME/XTerm file is read by xterms on
startup, and don't require fiddling an ~/.xinitrc file or
restarting the xserver. I just tried these settings here on my
Tiger system adding these lines to my normal XTerm file (which is
identical to the ones I use on Linux and several other flavours
of *nix. I haven't tried with lower cased XTerm, but these work.
XTerm*foreground: white
XTerm*background: black
