I've been getting similar crashes myself (I sent bug reports to both apple and Ben Byer).. My problem occurs when I used Slickedit, and click between a Terminal.app window (maybe others, thats just what I use), and Slickedit.,. It doesn't always happen, but its occurs often enough that I can't use the latest Xquartz... Occasionally, it also happens if I click on a menu-item (Slickedit's menu, not X11.app's)..

I haven't crashed via resizing yet though...

My last stable Xquartz is a6.. Something in the changes to a7 caused my crashes.. So I keep a copy of a6 around to be safe.

I've been having fairly routine crashes since I upgraded to the latest lib and binary listed on the x.org/wiki site.
