Terminal.app does allow you to use Alt for Meta.
Indeed, so it does! Now I'll be supremely confused. Thanks. 8-)
If you have Spaces enabled and press a Ctrl-numeric key combination,
the key combination will not be passed to the window that currently
has focus. It will be intercepted by Spaces and focus will be
shifted to the desktop corresponding to the numeric key pressed.
That can be changed in the Spaces preference pane.
Thanks. I didn't notice when first configuring Spaces that there was
an option to disable direct switching to a specific desktop. Nor did
I notice the legend in the selection pane that allows you to add a
modifier key to the selection. I changed mine to Ctrl-Meta(Cmd)-
Numeric.
While you can change the key bindings in the Spaces preference pane,
It does not eliminate the problem of Spaces "stealing" the key event.
When focus is on a window providing access to the desktop environment
of a remote system, the key event should be passed through to the
remote system and not effect the local system.
