Leopard's X11 is unusable with IDL (the Interactive Data Language)
that I use for the bulk of my work (X11 crashes out regularly), so I
tried to follow Ben Byer's recipe to install Tiger's X11. I run into
this error on the third step:
sudo ditto -Vx --noqtn /Volumes/X11\ Update\ 2006/X11Update2006.pkg/
Contents/Archive.pax.gz /
Password:
>>> Copying /Volumes/X11 Update 2006/X11Update2006.pkg
ditto: /Volumes/X11 Update 2006/X11Update2006.pkg: Is a directory
>>> Copying /Contents/Archive.pax.gz
ditto: /Contents/Archive.pax.gz: No such file or directory
I'm not a sysadmin, I'm a scientist desperately trying to get back to
a stable X11 system so I can do my research, so if anyone can help me
get out of this mess and how to get Tiger's X11 running on my machine
I would be most grateful.
Josh
