I had to re-install Leopard in order to get this to work because I
must have messed something up in my initial attempts to uninstall X11.
However, now it is up and running, and I can run my software in the
Tiger X11 no problems and watch the same thing crash X11 with the
Leopard version. Thanks to all for your help. I'm up and running!

Basically, this gave me a largely-working Leopard system (still a few
issues with NIS and PAM authentication, I think -- haven't tracked
them down yet).
By the way, I really appreciate some of the other improvements in the
BSD subsystem of Leopard!
