I haven't ever seen that one, but I remember dealing with
software written by people who didn't have a clue about serial
communications (e.g. the WordStar diamond and Radio Shack
Scripsit that used ctrl-s for some editing functions not knowing
it was an x-off character :-).
On the other hand, I've been using vi(m) for about 25 years, and
never run into problems with translation as (a) it doesn't use
much except the arrow keys, and (b) I don't use the arrow keys,
preferring using h, j, k, and l for cursor movement as they don't
require that I take my fingers off the home keys.
Then again, I write documentation primarily using docbook XML,
with the first cut being written using the -mm ?roff macros and a
filter I wrote to convert that to xml. About the only time I go
into OpenOffice.org or M$-Word is when somebody sends me files
that I need to read.
