The Mighty Mouse works properly for up/down scrolling, it's the left/
right scrolling that doesn't send any events.

I have a Logitech Trackman that has a wheel that is supposed to

sidebar, the wheel does result in scrolling through the buffer.
Logitech just released new drivers for 10.5. I guess I should check
if xev detects the press and release of the wheel.

Hmm... I could probably fix this if I had the hardware to test it.
What model do you have? I don't have any mouse with horizontal
scroll. Is yours inexpensive or do you have a spare lying around
you could fed-ex?

I'm using Leopard plus patched Xquartz. This may be a daft
question but is there any way to get the horizontal scroll wheel
on my mouse to send X11 events? I've run up xev and I get events
for vertical scrolling but none for horizontal (I get the same
result on Tiger). One of my X applications uses this ability and
it's a pain that it doesn't work. I'm hoping it's a simple
oversight (since the mighty mouse is relatively new).
And yes, I know that horizontal scroll wheel works because it
works in iPhoto.
Thanks for any information on this.
