Hello Everybody,
First of all I apologise now if the way I am using this list is wrong
but this is the first time I have ever been on a mailing list. So
please feel free to correct me or berate me whichever suits you
best . :)
The problem I have is I have followed Ben Byer's instructions here on
how to update and fix X11 http://lists.apple.com/archives/X11-users/2007/Oct/msg00270.html
but rather than fixing it - it has rendered the application dead. So
now I have 2 copies of X11 on the machine and I am not sure which one
is working etc. ( I also tried to downgrade and reinstall tigers x11.)
So I reinstalled it from the leopard CD and it does work again but all
the normal bugs are there which is listed in the link above. So im
back to square one really.
The only solution I can think of now is to downgrade. Tried doing
that and it also failed. http://aaroniba.net/articles/x11-leopard.html.
In conclusion my only option is now to reinstall tiger with how I used
to have it. Then upgrade to Leopard without adding X11.
So can anyone confirm that the instructions here http://lists.apple.com/archives/X11-users/2007/Oct/msg00270
are definately working? Maybe I am doing something wrong but I
followed the steps correctly.
Anyways any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Work finishes in 3 hours so im going home to rebuild the mac from
tiger to leopard.
**My whinge... this is by far the biggest bull*** upgrade I have ever
gone through with apple.
Marc
