Hello,
I have this same "cursor drawn in the background color" problem w/out
involving X11. And, it does not appear to happen on a MacBook, MBP 17", Mac
Pro, latest iMacs. I typically use White-on-Black display mode on the
advice of my optometrist. And, it happens in most apps. If memory serves,
I first experienced this on 10.4.11. Safari seems to have it fixed lately,
most MS apps do not, Firefox does not, and the Finder does not.
Unfortunately, Apple's genius bars' only advice was to make the cursor
bigger somehow to hopefully solve the problem; the solutions they "provided"
were OS 9 only.
So far, the only solutions are my 15" PB PPC or switching to Black-on-white
temporarily so I can see the cursor and back to white-on-black to do work.
