This is a known issue with the kernel. Please file a bug report at http://bugreport.apple.com
to "vote" for getting this addressed in Leopard.
Jeremy,
I've noticed this problem a lot on 2 of my machines since upgrading
the 2.2 series, where I only ever saw it sporadically before (once I
remember). Is it possible that the new version of X11 triggers this
issue more often than the previous? Its really annoying.
No, it is not possible that this is caused by X11. Please file a bug
at http://bugreport.apple.com , so we can hopefully get the fix for
this included with a future OSX update.
