Thanks for the reply, but if I understand well, you are suggesting to solve the problem by hiding the menu bar. I have not tried it yet, but Window Maker worked before. After some X11 update (I forgot which one) it broke in the sense I have explained, and it still remains broken. I think it was fine with the X11 version around January or February.
Adding again the fullscreen mode would solve issues like that. And more.
Nevertheless it is strange. Opening a Nedit window from a remote machine is fine, opening one from the locally installed Nedit sends it behind the menu bar. If we had not Spaces, there would be no way to move it from there. Well, except if you hide the menu bar.
