Jeremy, all
I am sure this was mentioned before, but I can't seem to find a
reference to it now; please forgive me if it has been done to death.
Using the latest 2.3.2rc3, it seems X11 thinks the screen resolution
is 75dpi:
xdpyinfo | grep -i resolution
resolution: 75x75 dots per inch
This is not very handy on my MacBook Pro 17" with high resolution
screen, which seems to be close to 133dpi (1900 x 1200 with 17"
diagonal?). Indeed, in some programs the font is too small to be
readable.
Unfortunately:
X11 does not set the resolution automatically (this would be best),
nor does it offer a preference to let the user set it (a poor second
best).
So:
what can I do to get X11 to use a different default resolution (every
time I start it)?
and could this be set automatically in a future release?
Best wishes
Ralph
