I had already seen that comment, but it didn't apply in this case,
since I don't start up the pgplot viewer directly, but only indirectly;
xspec takes care of initializing the pgplot driver. Not all pgplot drivers
know about truecolor either.
Anyway, updating to 2.3.2_rc4 seems to have fixed the problem, so I don't
need to revert to 2.3.0.
