I tried the last of these (Shark system trace) and now have a file that
I'd be happy to send to anyone who can interpret it better than I.
What jumps out at me is that "iCal Helper" is shown as being active
for a moment right about the time that the focus drops out. It doesn't
surprise me that iCal would have something going on in the background,
since I do have pending alarms (though none less than several days
away, at the moment). How it would interact with X11, though, I have
no idea.
BTW, there is nothing shown in the system log at the time.
