Since updating to Leopard and X11 2.1.3, I've been noticing something
very strange. Every hour exactly, if I'm working in X11 (which I
usually am), the front window loses focus for about a half second.
I noticed that too. Time machine?
This was actually my first thought, too, because it's the only thing I
happen to know of that does something exactly once per hour.
If anyone's curious, I know a program that had similar, but worse
effects on X11 -- the Last.fm "Audioscrobbler" plugin. The last time
I tried it, it stole focus from X11 once every few seconds, making it
unusable.
Looking at their changelog, I see:
1.4.0.54514 (23/11/07)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* Fixed config wizard appearing on each startup on Vista
* Fixed download artist and image data option when restoring main window
* Optimised tag dialog
* Fixed some comma handling issues in tag dialog
* Fixed bug where stopping/starting radio would lead to previous track
resuming while showing metadata for the new one
* Radio now retries the next track on all streamer errors instead of
erroring
out
* Autostart Mac client after autoupdate
* Fixed X11 apps losing focus on Mac
[...]
Unfortunately, I can't seem to connect to their SVN repo (svn://
svn.audioscrobbler.net/clientside/Last.fm) to get more details.
