Thanks for your answer. First, let me say that I am just
knowledgeable enough to setup a wacom tablet on linux (which is
basically just copy and paste from working Xorg configurations) and
that I don't have a deep knowledge of X.
I thought (and was told) that what was missing from the previous
version of X11 to get tablet support and all was the XInput
extension. The xinput *application* is something else then, as you
point out. But currently it reports something on:
xinput version
which means, if I understand the man page correctly, that the XInput
extension is there too (and has been there since the switch to Xorg
probably). Since this extension is there, what is missing currently
to support tablet and other devices?
The extension is there, but not thoroughly implemented.
