I've had issues with run-away xterms sucking up 99% of a core on my
MBP. However, the issue isn't actually with xterm, it's with the
pseudo tty. There is something wrong with it such that xterm winds up
spinning wildly trying to access it. The actual xterm window doesn't
even get created, it's still in the initialization code. If I leave
that xterm running, I can start up additional xterms. If I kill that
xterm, the next one tries to grab the same pseudo tty and gets stuck
in the same situation.
I tried using fuser to see if any other process was holding the pseudo
tty open, but I couldn't find anything. I've never seen the problem
clear up on its own, I've always had to reboot to get the pseudo ttys
cleaned up. I also haven't been able to figure out a way to reproduce
the problem, it just happens sometimes. It hasn't happened in the
past couple of weeks.

Running the current drop of the X11 product on a MacBook Pro. I've
just discovered that if I start an xterm from the terminal program,
select the new xterm, then press splat+n, the next xterm that pops
up will suckup 99% of one core. I can start as many as I like from
the terminal program with xterm&, but any that start from the key
sequence will do this. I'd been wondering why the cpu temp was so
high lately and it dropped 15'F when I kill the xterms. I'd be happy
to answer any questions - the work-around is fine for now but this
seems to be very not right.
