Problem with window updates

I have a problem with X11 that I haven't seen others report, so I
don't know if it's unique to me. I have a remote RedHat linux box on
which I do computing and it also receives email. When I run kmail on
the remote machine and pop the window up on my mac, scrolling is all
messed up like it's not doing the window update properly. If I
minimize the window and bring it back, the update is properly
processed and the window is restored. This was not a problem for X11
before I upgraded to Leopard. This is the last remaining regret I
have about upgrading. Any ideas? Has anyone else seen this?
