Jeremy,
what I meant by
X.org version of xterm is the one distributed in 2.1.3 package. Installing the Macports xterm I used the default.
At this point I am quite busy and don't know when I'll have a chance to track down the flags that cause the incompatibility with tek mode. I'll just stick with Marcports compile for now.

I'm sorry John, I don't understand what you mean here. X.org doesn't
distribute xterm. It's distributed here:

Version 229 is included with the version 2.1.3 package. It was
compiled with these options:
--prefix=/usr/X11 --mandir=/usr/X11/man --disable-dependency-tracking
--enable-wide-chars --enable-luit --enable-256-color --enable-logging
--enable-load-vt-fonts
What version are you using that works, and what options are used to
compile it? Looking at Macports, I see them using version 229 as
well, but they just use the default configure options. Can you try
compiling xterm yourself to find out what configure option is causing
the incompatibility with tek?
