For what its worth, with the latest 2.1.3 release, this works fine for
me as a way of launching matlab.
However, I do see the following on the terminal window:
MATLAB:I18n:InconsistentUiLanguage - The user UI language setting,
en_US.ISO8859-1, is different from the user locale setting,
en_GB.ISO8859-1.
