I hope you can help me figure out how to setup my macbook to run the
xserver much like the application Reflection X for windows.
I would like to have a window of the client (which is a Sun
Workstation) using xdcmp pop up on my macbook, once again, just like
Reflection X does when started on windows xp.
Basically, i want the remote display to be displayed on my macbook.
The modern way to do this --- on any platform --- is ssh X forwarding.
ssh -X -Y [-C -c blowfish] remotehost command ...
If you really must use XDMCP, you should be able to do something like
"Xquartz :0 -query xdmcphost -once"; I can't test because XDMCP is
turned off on all our machines (it is somewhat less than secure).
