I will try to setup all the fonts from my AIX box on the Mac X11

The colormap issue usually means some program was written assuming an
old 8-bit PseudoColor visual (which is to say, needs a specific kind
of color mapping) while the actual display is 24/32-bit TrueColor; or
vice versa. (Indeed, I see TrueColor and DirectColor visuals but none
of the old color-mapped visuals.) Xephyr may be your friend here, as
it exports a PseudoColor visual (or at least does with -screen
1024x768x8/8 which was my quick test).
XInputExtension is usually a warning you can ignore; Xlib checks for
it and warns if it's not there, but most programs don't care much.
That said, X11.app *has* XInputExtension, so I'm not sure what's going
on here.
