If you get the message from the 10.3 X11 installer, it's because it
just doesn't work on Tiger, and that's the error message that appears
to prevent you from installing it.
If you are getting that message when installing X11 from the Tiger
DVD, then I wonder if you have the 1.1.3 "update" installed without
the base install from the DVDs (but it *should* still install)...
Do 'pkgutil --packages' and look for something like
com.apple.pkg.X11User If it's there, do a 'pkgutil --forget
com.apple.pkg.X11User' (or whatever it is actually called) before
installing from the DVD.

Thank you Martin, I didn't see the 10.3 limitation you refer too
(uurgggggggghhhhh).
I will return to Install Disk1 and Disk2 (MacBookPro) to see if I can
actually find it, as mentioned earlier in this thread, but why would
I need
this (can anyone can shed any light) given the message below?
"newer software is already installed" (when trying to install X11)
Q: If true, why can't spotlight find any part of X11?
Q: If true, why is in not in the path applications/utilities as
indicated in
the FAQ.
Q: what am i missing?
Kind regards,
Kevin
