All the updates in the security update are already in 2.1.4. What is
in the security update is a subset of the changes in 2.1.4.

I updated the info on the website (http://xquartz.macosforge.org) to

I don't mean to be rude, but this seems unhelpful. If we are already
running 2.1.4, should we update or not? Does this update provide any
security fixes that are *not* in 2.1.4? Would it work, or be a good
idea, to apply the security update and then reinstall 2.1.4?

Thanks for the clarification Jeremy. Please just post this info to the
list the next time Apple munges with X11. Even better, get all of 2.1.4
absorbed into Apple's version.
