Hi Folks,
on my system there are problems displaying text/fonts in X11 after
upgrading to Xquartz 2.1.4.
On my iBook i'm running Mac OSX 10.5.2 (ppc). After upgrading X11 to
Xquartz 2.1.4 some
X-applications displays broken text/fonts (for example in the menubar).
I've tested the scribus and the easytag application. Gimp is running fine.

I've already rebuild the fontcache (see log) but the problem still exists.
Perhaps someone of you, has an idea how to fix it.
Scribus is a qt application, easytag uses gtk+. Your two snapshots look
different to me, the scribus window shows broken fonts, but what's wrong
with the easytag window? You might have two different problems.
When you run qtconfig, are the fonts looking right? If not, can you
choose right-looking fonts in the qtconfig Fonts menu?
