Shawn,
the problems with the contextual menues can be solved if we build
on Leopard but this will break our Tiger compatibility, meaning
that we would need to provide four binaries, Mac Intel Leopard, Mac
PPC Leopard, Mac Intel Tiger and Mac PPC Tiger, which would confuse
Mac users even more.
In general Leopard builds have various other minor issues and we
aren't sure if they are all OOo bugs or if they are caused by the
move from Xfree86 to X.org.
Since it would take too long to integrate the fixes into the X11
version which is due to be replaced by the aqua native version once
3.0 beta is out and 3.0 final, the focus is on fixing the similiar
start issues with the Aqua version. If one of those fixes, fixes
X11 as well it's ok but not on purpose.
You can reduce the appearence of this when you start OpenOffice.org
via terminal (don't forget removing the quotation marks)
using:
"open /Applications/OpenOffice.org\ 2.3.app/Contents/MacOS/soffice
&"
"sh /Applications/OpenOffice.org\ 2.3.app/Contents/MacOS/soffice &"
Those commands show better results then the one you figured out.
Hope this helps,
Eric Hoch
