I really do miss the simplicity and usefulness of DeskTop Manager.
Apple
needs to add a flag to spaces:
I_Know_What_Im_Doing_Dont_Try_To_Help_Me_Manage_My_Spaces = YES
workspaces-auto-swoosh = NO really does seem to help a lot here.
As Michael Cowlishaw would say, Spaces has a high astonishment
factor.
What I'm currently seeing is that it's not so much Spaces as Spaces
plus
X11. I've filed three or four bugs today against X11 behavior under
Spaces, and I don't see any of those misbehaviors for other apps under
Spaces.
Yeah, that's because of... well... everyone else gets to use cocoa
windows that are an abstraction layer above spaces... we have to
figure out how to interact with spaces at a lower level... so some of
the private API we are using don't quite work as expected and we need
to either get those API updated or figure out what extra calls to
make, flags to set, etc...
Please be patient. As I'm sure you've noticed things are getting
better. Small esoteric issues with spaces are better than completely
non-functional spaces/X11 interaction. =/
Thanks for your reports. I was actually not aware of these issues
until this weekend, so I'm glad they can now be addressed.
