Let's all get our votes in. I submitted mine!

* SUMMARY
Spaces auto-switches often, and often undesirably. ENHANCEMENT
REQUEST: Add a preference to disable spaces auto-switching.
* STEPS TO REPRODUCE
=> Example Task: Open a Terminal.app window group
(Terminal->Window->Open Window Group) on two spaces.
(Prep: Open some windows in Terminal.app and save them as a window
group. Quit Terminal.app)
A. Foiled by the dock
1. Open Terminal.app in space 1.
2. Open the saved window group.
3. Manually switch to space 2 by keyboard shortcut or "spaces"
zooming. (notice Terminal.app loses focus.)
4. Attempt to focus Terminal.app by clicking on the dock icon.
5. Spaces autoswitches back to space 1.
B. Foiled by Cmd-Tab
1. Open Terminal.app in space 1.
2. Open the saved window group.
3. Manually switch to space 2 by keyboard shortcut or "spaces"
zooming. (notice Terminal.app loses focus.)
4. Attempt to focus Terminal.app by pressing Cmd-tab until
Terminal.app is highlighted.
5. Spaces autoswitches back to space 1.
* RESULTS
Spaces auto-switches when dock icons are clicked, when applications
are switched with Cmd-tab, when windows on other spaces are activated
via keyboard shortcuts, and perhaps other unspecified events. This is
undesirable by many advanced users who prefer to switch spaces
manually.
* REGRESSION
No previous version of spaces to regress from!
* NOTES
1) Dragging windows between spaces by any method is an annoying
workaround, and definitely not a resolution to this problem.
2) Terminal.app users and X11 users tend to experience more
frustration with Spaces due to the nature of wanting to spread
multiple Terminal and X11-program windows over multiple spaces, but
being blocked by auto-switching behaviour. Conversely, once the
windows are spread out over multiple spaces, these same users get more
annoying and unwanted auto-switches away from their current space.
Ironically, the segment of the population that is most likely to
_want_ to use Spaces is the same segment that is adversely impacted by
auto-switching.
3) Much desire for a method to turn off auto-switching has been
expressed on Apple's x11-users mailing list. Here are links to a few
examples:
