Does the same thing happen if you use the built-in hotkeys to take the
screenshot? That is, cmd-shift-4 and then select a region to capture
the selection, or cmd-shift-4 then hit the spacebar and click on a
window to capture that window. You might have these turned off in the
Keyboard and Mouse pane in System Preferences though.

Yes, it sounds exactly like that ticket.
I am using the Mac's own Grab utility on a MacBook Pro with OS X
10.5.5, Build 9F33 and XQuartz 2.3.2_rc1 (xorg-server 1.4.2-
apple23). Up to a few days ago I was using X11_Legacy. I simply
put XQuartz on top.
The X11 applications that give this effect are (so far): gv
(ghostview) and gnuplot.
An X11 application that does *not* give this effect (it works
correctly): xterm.

Hmm... this sounds like this bug:
http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/ticket/127 (Snapshot does not
grab window content (incorrect alpha))
but that was fixed in 2.3.1 ...
What are you using to take your screenshots?

It's XQuartz 2.3.2_rc1 (xorg-server 1.4.2-apple23) - the latest, I
think.

Dear Jeremy and all,
I only recently installed Xquartz X11 so I don't know if this
problem existed in earlier versions...
Using Grab in "Capture Window" mode (Command-Shift-W), the
captured window of some of my X11 applications are blank. (In
"Capture Select" (Command-Shift-A) they are OK.) It happens
with gv (ghostview) and gnuplot. xterm is OK.
See attached tiffs.

Hi all,
I'd like to thank everyone that helped out and tested through
the three beta releases of 2.3.2 over the past month and a
half. I think 2.3.2_rc1 is in pretty good shape and is now
ready for a wider audience.
2.3.2 brings a lot of updates over 2.3.1. A full list can be
seen in the ChangeLog here:
http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki/ChangeLog
http://static.macosforge.org/xquartz/downloads/X11-2.3.2_rc1.pkg
The main changes from 2.3.2_beta3 are the integration of
xpbproxy into the server's AppKit thread and an update of the
system xinitrc scripts. You can now create a ~/.xinitrc.d with
scripts in it that will be sourced just like the ones in /usr/
X11/lib/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d ... this is the recommended way of
"customizing" your xinitrc since it will still allow you to
receive updates from us.
Thanks,
Jeremy
