Quoted Carl Alexander <email@hidden>:
I took the security update on my MacBook this morning, and after I
rebooted, x wouldn't launch. I then remembered to download and
install the latest xquartz --- which still didn't work. I've put
a console log online at
www.mit.edu/~xela/x11.app_failure.log
This is rebooting the machine, launching terminal.app, and typing
"xterm &" into the terminal. As you can see, X11 tries and fails
to lanuch. What I don't understand is why, or how to fix it.
For what it's worth, I took the same update on my intel mini, and
x works fine there (without reinstalling).
Do you get the same "No matching visual for __GLcontextMode with
visual class = 3 (32772), nplanes = 24" message on the working system?
How does it behave if you start X11.app before starting xterm?
What seems odd to me is that it's happening with: "X.Org X Server
1.4.2-apple17" which AFAIK didn't have any GLcontext-related changes.
The GLcontext-related changes from the new GLX visual configs occured
in 18 and 19, if I recall correctly, so that we could support GLX
stereo.
Can you put the contents of the following commands on your web server?
$ xdpyinfo > xdpyinfo.txt
$ glxinfo > glxinfo.txt
What is your color depth according to System Preferences -> Displays?
