I haven't been following this thread closely, but if you're talking
about a keyboard layout problem when logging into a linux gnome server
from Apple X11, we've had to use the following workaround for a year
or so:
1. In terminal: "ssh -Y (user)@(IP address)"
2. gconf-editor
3. Go to /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd and double click
on "Layouts"
4. Add an invalid layout and click Ok
5. Then you should be able to log into the linux server via XDMCP
and the mac keyboard problems seem to go away\
