X11 malfunction

Hi,
Several years ago I installed X11 on my mac (mac os x panther 10.3.9). It worked fine until a couples of days ago, when, suddenly it does not work any more.

When I start X11, it does not open the X term and after some times it quits.

If I try to open an xterm from a shell the error is

==============

Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

xterm Xt error: Can't open display: :0.0

==============

I do not remember any anomalous events that might be the cause of this, except the following two things that happened before the X11 malfunction

1. my mac was abruptly turned off a couple of time (due to the battery malfunction)

2. I installed an upgrade of "Office"

I don't know if these events might be related to my problems.

Can anyone help me?

thanks a lot in advance
