I've noticed this behavior as well using our company's internal CAD
tools. The initial window comes up with only the red button grayed
out, but after some usage it does become red. I haven't tried to
make heads or tails of it, but I think it has something to do with
working within the application and having it spawn various dialog
boxes and sub-windows. Another irritant within the same CAD suite is
that when an error occurs a small window comes up demanding
attention. For all the linux users, that window is front and center
no matter what you try to move in front of it, on my Mac it's
somewhere buried and I don't see it.
Yeah, quartz-wm doesn't properly handle keeping transient windows
above their parents. This is something targeted for the near future,
but with all the quartz-wm updates in 2.3.2, I didn't want to throw in
one more and possibly "upset the balance" ;) It'll get support
eventually.
