Hi again,
Sorry for the confusion caused by "specific gtkrc file that overrides ~/.gtkrc."
I too followed the advice in the FAQ, and created a ~/.gtkrc-2.0:
Procyon: ~] more ~/.gtkrc-2.0
gtk-font-name = "lucida grande 10"
Both the family and the size are recognized by my Inkscape (Inkscape 0.46, built Mar 30 2008).
Is your font size setting recognized for any font family? Mine is, even for geneva.
Louis

It doesn't have any effect on Inkscape here.
Or, better: the font family setting DOES have an effect on both Gimp
and Inkscape, but the font *size* does not. So the settings file
appears to be read, just the size setting is not used.
Just to be clear, I'm following what is written in http://forums.macosxhints.com/showpost.php?p=479602&postcount=47

Indeed, I'm already using the ~/.gtkrc-2.0 file as Sebastian (and the
FAQ) suggests. Are you using a ~/.gtkrc file instead?
Thanks.
