So, from what I can tell, those /usr/X11/share/X11/xkb were never
shipped with any version of Leopard. Are you absolutely positive that
you never installed a version of X11 from a source other than Apple's
SoftwareUpdates? I know that these files were present during a beta
version of XQuartz, and our postinst script removes them.
