I just installed version XQuartz 2.3.3 and now I am unable to set
DISPLAY=:0 and connect. The server is not listening on port 6000.
First, that DISPLAY setting does not correspond to tcp/ip port 6000.
DISPLAY=:0 uses /tmp/.X11-unix/X0 ... DISPLAY=<some address>:0 uses
tcp/ip port 6000.
How do I re-enable the ability for network clients to connect to my
X server?
It's in the Security preference pane
What was changed, or what config file did I forget about? In the
preferences, I have "allow connections from network clients" turned
on.
Then chances are, your X server isn't display 0.
The painless way to manage DISPLAY is to not set it at all... just let
launchd set it for you.
