Title: Error with Xnest or Xephyr
I am trying to run fvwm2 on a couple Macs, one with
X11 2.4.0 under OSX 10.5.8 and the other X11 2.3.4 under OSX
10.6.1; neither works properly. Since fvwm uses
Xnest (or Xephyr), I tried simply running them individually to
get past all the possible fvwm2 stuff and make
When I try to simply run Xnest or Xephyr I get
similar looking errors which make me believe something
is not installed properly on either system. In particular
on the OS10.5.8
I get for Xepher:
MAC/Users/mueller$ Xephyr :3 +kb
(EE) AIGLX error: dlopen of /usr/X11/lib/dri/swrast_dri.so failed
(dlopen(/usr/X11/lib/dri/swrast_dri.so, 5): image not found)
(EE) GLX: could not load software renderer
(EE) XKB: Couldn't open rules file
/usr/X11/share/X11/xkb/rules/base
(EE) XKB: No components provided for device Virtual core keyboard
(EE) XKB: Couldn't open rules file
/usr/X11/share/X11/xkb/rules/base
(EE) XKB: No components provided for device (unnamed
keyboard)
and for Xnest
MAC/Users/mueller$ Xnest :3
(EE) AIGLX error: dlopen of /usr/X11/lib/dri/swrast_dri.so failed
(dlopen(/usr/X11/lib/dri/swrast_dri.so, 5): image not found)
(EE) GLX: could not load software renderer
(EE) XKB: Couldn't open rules file
/usr/X11/share/X11/xkb/rules/base
(EE) XKB: No components provided for device Virtual core keyboard
Couldn't get keyboard.
In either case fvwm2 will startup and run, but it
suffers from not recognizing the keyboard properly.
Under either system, keys are not properly recognized in
fvwm2 (I defined the delete and arrow keys in .fvwm2rc since they did
not work and then found that "w" was mot assigned
properly either). Under system 10.6.1, the fvwm2
crashed, while under 10.5.8 it seems to continue to
run, albeit with a missing "w" key.
Under 10.6.1, while fvwm2 works for a while, when there are
more than a few windows open, I start getting messages about
missing fonts and bad control items in IDL. (Not at the 10.6.1 desk
top right now, but I can get the exact error messages from both IDL
and from the terminal that openned fvwm2 if needed.)
I suspect there is some link to resources that is missing.
Clearly there is something wrong in both setups, can anyone
point me in the right direction?
Thanks
